You taught the world the old school love – the one with a large cup of dedication, two dollops of care, and an extra teaspoon of sugary love.
Jim, the way you looked at Pam reminded us of the way an admirer of art looks at that one work of art that caught his eyes in a big splendid exhibition with abounding adoration, of how dreamers & thinkers look at magic & cosmos. When you gave up on your love for the sake of her happiness only to realize later that she had always been your one true ‘someone’, our hearts flooded with fondness and joy. When you interrupted her interview to ask her out in the most casual way, our eyes welled up with tears of happiness as we shook our heads at your lateness.
Pam, when you stole glances of Jim’s clueless face throughout your day and talked to your mother about him the way you talked about nobody else, we saw the little weakness you had for him, how you loved the way he made you laugh, and how you blushed, just a little bit, every time he threw you a thoughtful glance. He supported you through art school, sales venture & everything else you set your heart to, holding your hand as you carved your way through life.
Your little pizza date on the roof was unconventional and cozy yet perfect the same way the gas station proposal was perfect in all its minuscule ways, a little stubborn & a little desperate just like your hearts.
Your Niagara Falls wedding was an example of how your love was unstoppable, how couldn’t it be, armed with a torn veil and a half cut tie?
When Pam said, “When you’re a kid, you assume your parents are soulmates. My kids are going to be right about that,” we felt it. Because the world has already determined that you both belong together, watching you share an epic run of pranking people together, sharing inside jokes, and hiding your love behind a million little gestures and in sea-colored teapots.
We’re glad that you found your way to each other & gave us the most romantic story of our time. Thank you for making our broken souls believe in this magical, little thing called love.
